How can we help?

In January 1978, I lived in Christchurch, after returning from 2 years O.E.   There were teachers coming out of the wood-work and I was fortunate to get relieving work at Phillipstown and Wainoni schools.   I spent the best part of a term and a half at Wainoni when Mr Bruce was Principal.   Here on the East-side of Rotorua, we are looking to adopt a school on the East-side of Christchurch to do what we can for and with them.   Initiative from Anne-Marie from Mokoia Intermediate and so our school council will be mobilising to get in behind this idea.   It would be great for me, if it was Wainoni that Lynmore could adopt as I`d love to make contact with that school again, after all these years.

The Bean Counters

Here are some shots of a group of councillors counting the money they collected from 24 classes at Lynmore Primary School, Rotorua.   They organised a mufti-day to raise funds to send to Denison State School, Emerald, Queensland, Aussie, to use towards fixing their library, damaged in the recent floods.

True ANZACs

Lynmore School council organised a mufti day, last Friday, (19.2.11), to raise funds for Denison State School, Emerald, Queensland, Aussie, to assist with fixing their damaged library, from the floods of January.   It raised A$200.00 for them.

We also heard from the Principal of Middle Kinglake primary school, Victoria, who lost 3 of their students in the Black Saturday fires of 2 years ago this week, that their new school was opened.   The Lynmore school council organised a coin trail and raised around $200.00 aussie dollars for them as well.   One of the school councillors visited Middle Kinglake school with her family and was shown around their temporary accommodation.   We congratulate the Middle Kinglake school community for their courage, faith and hard work and their belief that they would build a new school...and remember the lost children of those horrendous fires.   Mrs Cook, the Principal, also passed on her condolences for the victims and families of the latest earthquake that hit Christchurch on Tuesday.

The true ANZAC spirit lives on in the children.
